Winter Weather Operations Plan Update 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27:

City of West Fargo National Weather Service

The National Weather Service is forecasting continuing snow and blowing snow conditions through Friday morning at 11 a.m. The City of West Fargo snow plow crews will continue to prioritize snow emergency routes during this time and treat residential roads secondarily as time allows. Snow plow crews will move into residential areas after blowing snow ceases and snow emergency routes are clear.

The City of West Fargo is preparing roads and snow removal equipment for 6-10 inches of snow with sustained 28 mph winds and gusts up to 48 mph. In response to this forecast, the City of West Fargo Public Works crews have switched to two crews rotating 12-hour shifts starting Wednesday through Friday. Crews are preparing the snow removal equipment and treating the snow emergency routes today before the snow begins to fall.

Once the snow starts and the City of West Fargo receives about 2-inches of accumulation snow plow crews will begin to patrol and maintain the snow emergency routes and known problem areas. If the accumulation causes a safety hazard in the residential areas, the crews will plow a single path through the neighborhoods.

With the current forecast, crews are anticipating the storms to subside Friday morning. If this forecast holds, the crews will plow all streets and paths starting at 4 a.m. that morning. (See above for updated information.) A snow plow tracker is available at the Snow Plow Tracker website. The City of West Fargo sanitation department plans to collect garbage throughout the storm.

As always, these storms are unpredictable and plans can change once the storm begins. Follow @CityofWestFargo on Facebook, Twitter or Nextdoor for updates or sign up for alerts at http://www.westfargond.gov/AlertCenter.aspx.
