[ARCHIVED] West Fargo Fire Department responds to Wednesday morning vehicle fire

INCIDENT ALERT (png)

At approximately 9:33 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, the West Fargo Fire Department was dispatched to 806 26th Street NW, the City of West Fargo’s inert landfill, for a vehicle fire. When crews arrived on scene, landfill equipment was fully engulfed in flames. A nearby brush pile had also caught fire. Crews began a defensive attack, but were unsuccessful due to high heat and wind gusts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation with the cost of damages to be determined. Crews have now switched to managing a controlled burn for the resulting equipment and brush fire. The fire is expected to burn with heavy smoke for several days. There were no injuries to emergency personnel or City of West Fargo staff.

The West Fargo Fire Department was assisted by the West Fargo Police Department and West Fargo Rural Fire Department.
