A juvenile male suspect has been identified in connection to the Tuesday, June 13 structure fire at 5600 9th Street W., Dakota Park. The juvenile male is facing the potential charge of endangering by fire or explosion, a Class C felony. As the suspect is a juvenile, his name and age will not be released.

“Our detectives worked diligently to identify the suspect responsible within hours of the incident,” said Denis Otterness, Chief of Police. “I would like to commend our officers for their quick response and thank the West Fargo Fire Department for their ongoing partnership.”

The West Fargo Fire Department quickly knocked down and contained the active fire within minutes of arrival. The public restrooms located within the structure sustained heavy smoke damage resulting in over $6,000 in damages.

The juvenile male, and this case, do not appear to be related to any additional recent structure fires within the metro region. Any further questions should be directed to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The West Fargo Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the West Fargo Fire Department.
