On Monday, June 5, 2023, the West Fargo City Commission unanimously approved the West Fargo Fire Department’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan. The department has spent months developing the plan, resulting in a 35-page document that provides goals, strategies and objectives for a five-year period. These goals link with the 2019-2029 Staffing Plan and the Long Range Facility Plan.
“This Strategic Plan was created with our community’s best interests in mind,” said Fire Chief Dan Fuller. “This dynamic plan will be used to meet the changing demands, hazards, and risks facing the residents, visitors and businesses of West Fargo.”
The Strategic Plan includes several Commitments to the Community that were developed based on internal and external stakeholder feedback. Each Commitment states a goal, strategies to achieve the goal, tactics, timelines, champions and fiscal notes. These Commitments focus on topics including increasing cardiac arrest survivability, limiting fire loss, improving quality of life among West Fargo residents, increasing workplace safety, and increasing the effectiveness of training experiences.
