[ARCHIVED] Sewer valve break causes emergency closure at 13th Avenue W. and Sheyenne Street intersection

Sewer valve break causes emergency closure Oct. 11

Crews are on-site at the intersection of 13th Avenue W. and Sheyenne Street to begin repairs on a sewer valve break that was discovered this morning. Most areas of the intersection will need to be closed to investigate and complete the repairs so motorists should avoid this area until further notice. It is unknown how long the repair will take. Updates will be provided on westfargostreets.com and on social media.

The break was discovered this morning when liquid began to back up into the street with a strong sewer odor. This intersection is a main connection point for the sewer system and has east-, west- and northbound connections. Crews will first need to identify the site of the break and then dig around the valve to complete the repair. Lanes will be closed in the intersection as needed for crews to work safely and efficiently.

Motorists in this area may encounter congestion and delays during the morning and evening commutes and should adjust their travel plans accordingly. Always use the ‘S’ check when traveling in and around construction areas – check your speed, space and stress.
