[ARCHIVED] 1st Avenue E. road closure beginning Monday, July 11 for concrete repairs

1st Avenue E. road closure beginning Monday, July 11 for concrete repairs (png)

First Avenue E. will close beginning Monday, July 11, between 5th Street E. and 6th Street E., for concrete repairs due to road buckling. Repairs are anticipated to be complete by the Monday, July 25, pending weather conditions.

Road buckling commonly occurs when the air temperature shifts from moderate to extreme heat. The warmer the temperature, the more the pavement material expands and leads to buckles.   If motorists encounter a buckling road, please notify the Public Works Department at (701) 515-5400.

Motorists in this area may encounter congestion and delays during the morning and evening commute and should adjust their travel plans accordingly. Always use the ‘S’ check when traveling in and around construction areas – check your speed, space and stress.
