The West Fargo Public Library is moving the Welcome to West Fargo Open House to a virtual event on Nov. 15. This change is due to the recent COVID-19 New Mask Strategy issued by the West Fargo City Commission and continued orange, high-risk status in Cass County.

This event will now take place live via Zoom from 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. This event is open to the public, but targets new West Fargo residents or those who have moved to the area in the last few years. Attendees can register to receive the event link at Representatives from City of West Fargo municipal services, the West Fargo Public Library and the West Fargo Park District will be available to answer questions in a Q & A panel format and provide information about city services.

During the event, attendees will be able to submit questions to a moderator and listen to panelists responses live to learn more about city services. Attendees will learn about local laws, utilities, services and programs that affect residents in West Fargo. This event will also offer an opportunity for new residents to volunteer to provide feedback on the future of the library. Those who do provide feedback through one-on-one market research interviews will be eligible to win prizes from a number of local businesses.

The feedback gathered at this and other public input events this fall will be a major input in the library’s strategic plan, which has been in the works since early 2020. So far, the library has conducted user interviews, collected feedback from stakeholders and worked with staff to define the library’s values and assess existing data. The next step in the process is to host public input activities like this one. To learn more about the strategic plan and to follow the process, visit

The City of West Fargo New Mask Strategy passed Wednesday, Oct. 21, during a special meeting of the West Fargo City Commission. The New Mask Strategy strongly urges people in West Fargo to wear a face covering over their mouth and nose in buildings where they may encounter people outside of their household and they are unable to keep 6 feet of distance from them. It also encourages residents to wear a mask in all outdoors settings where they cannot maintain 6 feet of distance from people outside of their household. Businesses are urged to follow the ND Smart Restart guidelines, which limit customers in their building to 25% capacity with a maximum of 50 people.
