Section of First Avenue E. closed due to buckled road

5 p.m. Thursday, July 2 Update: The east- and westbound lanes of First Avenue E., near the Fifth Street E. intersection, are now closed for repairs due to a buckled road. Motorists will need to utilize Main Avenue E. to travel east and west in that area.

Original Release: Crews will start concrete work Tuesday, July 7, pending weather conditions. The road will remain closed until that work can be completed.

The eastbound lane of First Avenue E., near the Fifth Street E. intersection, is closed Thursday, July 2, for road buckle repairs. Gravel will be laid as a temporary repair to allow the road to reopen by the end of the day Thursday, July 2. Crews will start concrete work Tuesday, July 7, pending weather conditions. The eastbound lane will close again for the concrete work.

Motorists in this area may encounter congestion and delays during the morning and evening commutes and should adjust their travel plans accordingly. Always use the ‘S’ check when traveling in and around construction areas – check your speed, space and stress.
