West Fargo Police Department’s K9 Macho will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Macho’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always.” Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

Macho, a German shepherd, joined the West Fargo Police Department in 2018, after the retirement of West Fargo’s first K9 officer, Disco. The West Fargo Police Department also includes ToSti, a Dutch shepherd, and Brewtus, a German shepherd who was purchased through community donations, in 2019. In 2018, the West Fargo Police Department K9 unit was deployed over 250 times into the community, including several assists for area law enforcement organizations. The West Fargo Police Department K9s are also frequently used for community engagement and demonstrations to help police officers connect with the public and build trust.
