On February 27, 2017 at approximately 0143 hours a West Fargo Police Officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle with a headlight out at the intersection of 9th Street and 7th Avenue North East. The vehicle did not stop for the officer and fled eastbound on 7th Avenue North, the vehicle then went south onto 45th Street up to Main Avenue and then headed West. Vehicle speeds were in excess of 85 miles per hour, the West Fargo Officer ended the pursuit once the suspect vehicle reached I94. Another West Fargo Officer that continued westbound with no emergency lights on, noticed a white puff of snow in the air and figured the vehicle may have crashed somewhere up ahead.  The West Fargo Officer found the suspect vehicle in the ditch facing eastbound, he noticed a male running away and was ordered to stop. The male complied and the officer detained the male.  While speaking with the male, he stated the he was not the driver and that a female was driving and fled on foot. Foot prints were found to go south from the location of the crash. Fargo Police Department was called in to do a track with their K9. Cass County Sheriff’s Department assisted by setting up a perimeter.  Fargo’s K9 followed a track and was able to locate the female driver hiding in a grove of trees in the area. The female now identified as Abbey Rose Brooks-Derzay 23 years of age and no permanent address was placed under arrest for Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Outstanding Warrants out of Burleigh County.  The passenger, Christopher Wilkie 22 years of age from Fargo, was transported to Sanford for non-life threatening injuries. The driver Brooks-Derzay was taken to Essentia to get medically cleared and then taken to the Cass County Jail.
