About the West Fargo Police Department

Fourty-six sworn police officers, five police clerks, five support staff, and seven volunteers create this police department. 

STAFF FLOWCHART

Officers are licensed by the State of North Dakota and have received many hours of training before being hired.  After an officer is hired, they spend 14 weeks with a Field Training Officer (FTO) where they learn and are tested in their knowledge and abilities as an officer. 

Police Clerks provide customer service support at the Police Department window and on the phone from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. 

The West Fargo Police Department History

The beginning of law enforcement protection for West Fargo began on February 15, 1937 when Andrew Walburg became the first constable. Walburg worked part time and was later replaced by Cliff Berlin who served as a part time constable.  read more

Employee and Department Awards

Employees of the West Fargo Police Department are frequently awarded for their excellent service. The West Fargo Area Chamber of Commerce has given an annual award to police employees since 1998. Other organizations have equally supported and recognized employees.
